EJEMPLODE / EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHING NETWORK

Building an educational publishing business. Rebuilding it for a new search era.

I built the CMS, developed the search strategy and led the editorial team behind Ejemplode. In 2026, I rebuilt the platform around clearer content, learning routes and practical tools.

01 / THE SEARCH OPPORTUNITY

A specific need beat a bigger keyword list.

I started with long-tail searches and grew into competitive, high-demand keywords.

In December 2006, I began exploring how websites could earn revenue. I built a keyword-research tool that queried Yahoo Overture, expanded the results into more searches and uncovered long-tail demand.

Small sites answering questions about letters, memorandums and language attracted more traffic than my much larger experiments in hotels, insurance and mortgages. That observation became the foundation of Ejemplode.

Over time, the site ranked for highly competitive terms attracting thousands of searches. The strategy grew from answering specific questions to covering broader topics in depth.

The experiments that changed my approach

My first experiments used automated, scraped-content sites and short-lived SEO tactics. Rankings disappeared quickly, making the model labour-intensive and fragile. I shifted to original educational publishing and built a proprietary CMS to support a more durable business.

02 / EDITORIAL LEADERSHIP & SEO

I built the platform and the publishing operation.

I DEVELOPED

A proprietary CMS.

Website development, publishing infrastructure and keyword research tools, connecting the technical product with the content business.

I LED

Eight writers at once.

I trained the team to write for the web, search engines and readers, and handled editorial review and on-page SEO.

I GREW

An advertising-funded network.

SEO, internal linking, off-page work through blog networks and backlinks, and AdSense monetisation across 30+ sites.

THE EDITORIAL OPERATING WORKFLOWRepresentative process, reconstructed from my work
  1. 01

    Research

Search demand, long-tail queries and reader intent.

  2. 02

    Brief & train

Web writing, SEO and a useful answer for the reader.

  3. 03

    Write & review

Eight writers, with my editorial review and on-page SEO.

  4. 04

    Publish & connect

Custom CMS, internal links and off-page promotion.

  5. 05

    Measure & improve

Search visibility, readership and AdSense monetisation.

Content, technology and commercial ownership.

This was my own publishing business. I was responsible for what we built, how we published, how readers found it and how it earned revenue.

03 / DOCUMENTED HISTORICAL SCALE

More than a billion page views. One website.

Archived Ejemplode AdSense report: 1,108,138,539 page views and 4,243,693,910 ad impressionsVIEW FULL SIZE ↗

THE TURNING POINT

Scale did not make the platform future-proof.

Traffic and revenue declined over time. I made isolated improvements to content clusters and internal links, but the legacy platform needed a deeper rebuild.

The archive had once held roughly 8,000 articles. A full overhaul was a substantial investment, and I deferred it until 2026. The recent migration started from a smaller inventory of about 2,800 articles.

04 / THE 2026 REBUILD

Rebuild the product, not just the homepage.

With Codex supporting implementation, I migrated the proprietary CMS to WordPress and reworked the content inventory, navigation and learning experience.

BEFORE

Custom CMS

Ageing design, weak architecture and an oversized content inventory.

REBUILT

WordPress

A smaller inventory organised around topics, learning paths and practical tasks.

05 / EARLY RECOVERY SIGNALS

Visibility is growing again.

The first results following the rebuild show an increase in search visibility and clicks. These are early observations, not a claim that historical traffic levels have returned.

GENERATIVE AI SEARCH

189K impressions

1 June to 2 September 2026

The report’s final daily value approaches 19K impressions, compared with a much lower baseline earlier in the period. These are impressions in generative AI features, not visits.

SEARCH PERFORMANCE

Both clicks and impressions rise toward the end of the displayed period. Search impressions and AI-feature impressions are shown separately, not added together.

06 / THE WIDER PUBLISHING NETWORK

One body of experience. Different rebuilds.

The modernisation work started with Cartas de Recomendación, then CartaDe and 10ejemplos, before Ejemplode. Each site had its own content and product needs.

Paraimprimir.org

I corrected a technical SEO issue. Around three weeks later, the site’s search performance increased sharply.
